Frequently Asked Questions

What is RF Microneedling? How does it work?

RF Microneedling devices use specially insulated needles that enter the skin before delivering high-intensity radio frequency energy into the target tissue.

How does RF microneedling work?

The radio frequency energy creates heat in the dermis of the skin, which stimulates the growth of new collagen fibers and elastin. The result is improved skin tightness, quality, and texture.

What Can RF Microneedling Treat?

  1. Fine lines and wrinkles
  2. Stretch marks
  3. Large pores
  4. Acne scars
  5. Scars from injury or surgery
  6. Loose sagging skin
  7. Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

Who is a good candidate for RF Microneedling?

People in overall good health who wish to improve the appearance and quality of their skin.

Who may not be a good candidate for RF Microneedling?

  1. Those taking Accutane for acne
  2. Active cold sores or other infection in the target area
  3. Significant skin disease such as psoriasis
  4. Patients actively undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy
  5. Those with a history of poor wound healing or keloids
  6. Patients with pacemakers or other medical device implants that may be sensitive to the radio frequency energy
  7. Those who are currently pregnant

Why did you choose Genius RF Microneedling over other brands?

Genius RF is a terrific device made by Lutronic, which is a well-established company in the laser and energy based device market. We particularly like Genius because it has the most advanced technology for RF microneedling at this time. Specifically, Genius RF has real time feedback allowing precise and consistent energy delivery to each patient to produce results. This technology also allows Genius RF to reduce the discomfort of this treatment compared to other brands.

What can I expect with my Genius RF procedure?

A member of our team will cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing cream. The numbing cream will be removed after about 45 minutes and your skin will be cleansed again. The procedure typically takes 30-45 minutes, depending on the area treated.

How much down time can I expect?

This can vary somewhat depending on the area(s) treated. A typical facial treatment will lead to mild swelling and redness for 24-48 hours. Some patients may experience longer redness or swelling. Other areas typically take longer to heal than the face.

How many treatments should I get?

Most patients will need a series of three treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart, depending on the target area and quality of the skin.

How long does it take to see results?

You may see results sooner but the full results will take 3-6 months to appear.

How long do the results last?

While RF microneedling does not stop the aging process, your results should be long lasting. Most patients will see improved skin quality for years.

What treatments can be combined with Genius RF Microneedling?

Our amazing team of professionals can customize a treatment plan for your specific skin and goals. We often add platelet rich plasma (PRP) or growth factors to enhance the effects of Genius RF treatments. We may use superficial laser peel so that the surface of the skin appears brighter while the Genius RF works on the deeper layers. We use Broad Based Light (BBL) treatments to reduce sun damage and pigmentation. We also may use wrinkle relaxers such as Botox to improve dynamic wrinkles and lines in conjunction with Genius RF.
