Girls Night Out Confession Time

Ladies, you can attest to the fact that GNO (girls night out) conversations often lead to vulnerable confessions in which we can all too often relate.

They frequently go like this….

We order drinks & appetizers while we are catching up. Before we know it we are laughing pretty hard, and suddenly someone confesses, “Oh no, I just peed a little.” We all chuckle. Another friend then opens up, “I wet my pants almost daily. I pee a little when I’m running to catch up with my speedy toddler. I pee a little when I sneeze. Or laugh too hard. And I cannot go near a bouncy house or a trampoline park- they’re my worst nightmare.”

Another friend chimes in, “After a hundred million kegels, I still can not exercise without peeing. I even wear black tights when working out at the gym avoid embarrassment.” Then the conversation goes a layer deeper when my sweet friend says, “And sex after 30 has become a chore. It used to be great, but now… not so much. What’s that all about?” The conversation then shifts to wishing we had the bodies we did in our early 20’s, the sex drive, and the natural “readiness” we once had.  Then my witty girlfriend quirps, “what once felt like thunder and lightning is now more of a drizzle.” Lots of laughter, some deep sighs.

Can you relate? Maybe you could even add to this conversation. You are not alone. Thousands of women deal with incontinence issues while they are still young and active. For many women, their plummeting sexual satisfaction is enough to make them wish they could turn back the hands of time. And that’s where vaginal rejuvenation comes in.

Female Rejuvenation – Not Just for Celebrities.

Vaginal rejuvenation, the modest term for the trend around getting your vagina back into shape. And although Vaginal Rejuvenation have been popular within Hollywood for years now, the treatments and non-surgical procedures are available to women just like you and me.  The general idea and objective is that the vagina is restored to a more youthful state. Vaginal rejuvenation can help tighten, decrease dryness and decrease or eliminate stress incontinence (like from running, sneezing, coughing). There are procedures and non-invasive treatments like ThermiVa to help women have better sex, play sports and live their lives again without having to constantly geotarget a bathroom.

I’ll let the experts take it from here and provide further education and information that could help you accomplish the freedom and enjoyment you’ve been desiring.

Female Intimate Wellness and Vaginal Rejuvenation

Many of our patients seek answers for sexual health and intimacy issues. Some ask about vaginal rejuvenation but many others have complaints that fall into the category of female intimate wellness and may benefit from rejuvenation type procedures as well. Below we discuss some of the common complaints that we see and some of the options to address them.

What is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Vaginal rejuvenation is a broad term for vaginal corrective treatments. These procedures can be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve age-related issues such as lack of vaginal tightness, vaginal dryness and urinary incontinence. Some doctors only consider surgical treatments as vaginal rejuvenation but Dr. Gentry prefers to treat female intimate wellness with a combination of bioidential hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections through the O-Shot and painless vagina tightening called ThermiVa.

What symptoms of female intimate wellness can you treat?

Urinary Incontinence

Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is extremely common in women who have had children. Carrying and delivering a baby puts significant stress on the muscles of the pelvic floor and vaginal region. SUI is the leaking of urine with physical activity/straining or with sneezing/coughing, jumping. Stress urinary incontinence occurs when the muscles and other tissues that support the bladder weaken and when the tissue of the pelvis becomes thinner and less supported. When those muscles weaken, anything that exerts force on the abdominal and pelvic muscles (sneezing, coughing, lifting, laughing etc.) can put pressure on your bladder and cause leakage. More than half of mothers have incontinence to some degree. Take our survey to see if we might be able to help.

Take this quick survey to determine if you have symptoms of stress urinary incontinence. Answer each question with the following scale:

How often do you leak urine (even small drops) or wet your undergarments when you cough or sneeze?

  1. Never
  2. Rarely
  3. Once in a while
  4. Often
  5. Most of the time
  6. All of the time

How often do you leak urine (even small drops) or wet your undergarments when you walk quickly or jog?

  1. Never
  2. Rarely
  3. Once in a while
  4. Often
  5. Most of the time
  6. All of the time

How often do you leak urine (even small drops) or wet your undergarments when you bend down or pick up something?

  1. Never
  2. Rarely
  3. Once in a while
  4. Often
  5. Most of the time
  6. All of the time

** If your total combined score for these three questions is 4 or greater, you likely have stress urinary incontinence.  This is a very common condition in women who have carried children. In fact more than 50% of mothers have some degree of stress urinary incontinence. The vast majority of these women can often be treated without surgery or invasive techniques.

Vaginal Laxity

Carrying and delivering a baby puts a significant amount of stress on the muscles of the pelvic floor and vagina. Ask us about ThermiVa and/or the O Shot to help give you back your “pre-baby” body! You can improve sexual satisfaction, increase vaginal lubrication, improve ability or quality of climax.

Vaginal Dryness

As women age or have changes in hormones, vaginal dryness becomes very common. This is usually a very treatable condition. Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy is a great way to address vaginal dryness for many women. The O Shot and ThermiVa are both quite effective to improve vaginal lubrication allowing for more spontaneous and pleasurable sexual encounters.

Painful Intercourse

Painful intercourse can be caused by vaginal ldrynessm scarring from childbirth or surgery and other issues. This can lead to physical and emotional distance in relationships and be a major stressor in life. Often, we can use Platelet Rich Plasma injections and/or ThermiVa to help improve this issue in as little as one treatment.

How do you treat these issues?

Dr. Gentry typically uses a multiple modality approach to give our female patients the best possible results. Below are the most common ways that he treats the most common complaints of female intimate wellness. He can work with you to address your specific complaints through a treatment plan that is customized for you.

BHRT

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy is a cornerstone of our practice. Dr. Gentry customizes a treatment plan to your specific complaints to help you improve your quality of life. Often, imbalanced or low hormone levels can lead to intimate issues as well. For instance, testosterone is important for sex drive and sexual response in women as well as men. Bioidentical hormones can provide the benefits of hormone replacement therapy without many of the risks of synthetic hormone replacement.

O Shot

Dr. Gentry is the only O-Shot provider in Fayetteville. He first learned the procedure from the inventor, Dr. Charles Runels in 2013. He has since trained with Dr. Runels on multiple occasions. The O Shot can be used to improve vaginal dryness, increase sexual satisfaction, improve urinary incontinence, improve climax and even treat painful intercourse.

ThermiVa

ThermiVa is a non-invasive treatment using radiofrequency heating to tighten the vaginal canal. This painless procedure is performed in about 30-45 minutes every 3 weeks for a total of 3-4 treatments. There is no downtime and no recovery. This treatment leads collagen bundles to tighten, therefore lifting and tightening the vaginal canal. The goal is to enhance collagen, improve blood flow and increase lubrication.

The best things about our female intimate wellness treatments are:

  1. They work
  2. There is no down time
  3. There is very little risk
